Andrew Rathbun

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Andrew Rathbun lays claim to a professional music career that's been varied and diverse; a career highlighted by performances, recordings, and airplay throughout North America. Fortunate enough to study with Pat LaBarbera in Toronto, Andrew developed his style, tone and a flair for composition early in his career. 1990 saw Andrew lead a group to a second place finish at the CBC - ALCAN Jazz Competition. In 1991 he was awarded a Canada Council for the Arts Grant to study in Boston with Jerry Bergonzi and Bill Pierce. He took up residence there in 1992 and received his Masters with Academic Honors and Distinction in Performance from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with George Garzone, Jimmy Guiffre, and George Russell.
