The Jim Hall Trio LP "Jazz Guitar" recorded in 1957 with pianist Carl Perkins and bassist Red Mitchell has appeared in various forms (including a re-issue with drums dubbed on) but this is the first time that all the tracks cut at the session have been put together unabridged on one CD.

This outstanding early album was made when Hall was attracting attention on the West Coast scene playing with Jimmy Guiffre. The disc also contains five bonus tracks made at various times with pianist John Lewis.

Includes 12-page booklet with photos by William Claxton.

Tracks #1-11, originally issued as "Jazz Guitar" (Pacific Jazz 1227)

Jim Hall (guitar); Carl Perkins (piano); Red Mitchell (bass)
Recorded in Los Angeles, January 10 & 24, 1957 & February 10, 1956

All tracks appear here in their original unedited form, as on to the original US LP edition, for the first time as well as the track "Too Close for Comfort", a trio piece which was recorded around the same time but included only on a label anthology.

All previous CD releases of this album presented abridged versions of some tunes and most omitted "This is Always". This edition presents the integral session with complete tunes for the first time ever. No alternate take for "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" exists.

As a bonus to this outstanding album, it's added four interesting tunes featuring Jim Hall with pianist and composer John Lewis in a 1956 trio, a 1957 duet and three 1960 quartet recordings.
