Every journey begins with the simple act of packing your bag. It’s a familiar ritual before leaving for a tour, stepping on to a train or boarding a plane. In that moment, excitement and uncertainty coexist side by side. There’s the anticipation of new places, new faces and unexpected encounters. But there’s also the quiet awareness that you don’t know exactly what lies ahead.
'Pack The Bag' is about embracing that space between comfort and discovery. It’s about trusting the road and your colleagues, welcoming the unexpected, and finding music in every new experience.
In the middle of our tour in May 2025, we made a stop at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, to record this album with my trio and the legendary saxophonist Vincent Herring as our special guest. The music captures the spirit of life on the road during this three-week tour.
So pack the bag, leave a little room for the unknown, and enjoy the journey and the music.
