Review:
"Elmo Hope was an excellent pianist/composer from the 1950s/'60s who failed to achieve much recognition during his shortened life. Paul Moer has been even more obscure, primarily writing for the Los Angeles studios during the past three decades. This CD, a trio outing with bassist John Heard and drummer Laurence Marabale, was Moer's first jazz recording as a leader since the 1960s. He interprets 11 of Hope's little-known compositions (only "Carving the Rock" is slightly known) with swing and sensitivity, making one wish that Paul Moer would record much more often. An interesting outing that helps to revive some superior, long-forgotten material."
