This edition compiles some of Woody Herman’s best-known material from 1945 to 1947. The Woody Herman band was one of the most popular bands in the world in the '40s - and by the end of 1946, the First Herd was one of the highest paid bands in history.
Herman’s ‘Herds’ combined the beautiful sound of the leader on clarinet and vocals with some of the most talented musicians on the American jazz scene - most already star soloists, and of these a number destined to become big names in jazz.
