Produced for CD release by Jordi Pujol
"This CD from the Spanish Fresh Sound label consists of three broadcasts originating from Birdland during 1950-51 that feature the early Miles Davis with such notable players as trombonist J.J. Johnson, tenors Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Big Nick Nicholas, pianists Tadd Dameron, Kenny Drew and Billy Taylor, bassists Gene Ramey, Tommy Potter and Charlie Mingus and drummer Art Blakey. The repertoire is filled with bop classics and, although the recording quality is sometimes a little erratic, the enthusiastic solos from these young players (most of whom were still in their 20s) makes this set both historic and enjoyable."
