Laurent Coq

A rebellious pianist, having revealed the talents of a composer of great originality and an inspiration as a soloist with remarkable standards, Laurent Coq (born in 1970 in Marseille) was notably the partner of the saxophonists Julien Lourau and Pierrick Pedron, and singer Elisabeth Kontomanou.

Among many musical experiences, he recently co-directed the “Rayuela” project with Puerto Rican altoist Miguel Zenon, inspired by the work of Julio Cortazar, and recorded several widely acclaimed trio or quartet albums, in atypical instrumental formulas such as his Blowing Trio with two saxophones. The firmness of his touch, his melodic sense and his refusal of any brilliance make him an extraordinary soloist.
