"Porteños tend to look down upon Enrique Rodríguez. His musical style was simple and his orchestra played other music as much as tango - very charming foxtrots in particular, but also pasodobles.
However, as we enter the 21st Century his reputation seems to be being rehabilitated. His music may be uncomplicated but with its firm compás and cheerful air it is just perfect for dancing. In Armando Moreno Rodríguez found the perfect singer for his orchestra. Astonishingly this disc is the first commerical release outside Japan to feature his tangos alone. This has since been followed by one on Reliquias but for European tangueros this disc will be their favourite.
This disc is full of our Rodriguez's best material; El encopao, En la buena y en la mala, Son cosas de bandoneón and Suerte loca are all included. Only Llorar Por Una Mujer is missing from this great selection. Roll on volume 2."
