Aleksi Heinola
Aleksi Heinola is a jazz drummer and composer known for an energetic style rooted in the hard bop of the 1950s and 60s. Born in Helsinki, Finland, he has built much of his career within the Nordic jazz scene. He leads his own bands (the Aleksi Heinola Quintet and quartet,) paying tribute to the jazz tradition with a modern twist.
In 2019, he received an award recognizing young musicians from the Koko Jazz Club. He has released notable works, such as his quintet self-titled debut album in 2019 and a quartet album recorded at Helsinki's Finnvox Studios for Jazzaggression Records, alongside international collaborations like the "Helsinki to Harlem" project with bassist Nathan Francis, and well-known sessioneers as saxist Seamus Blake, guitarist Peter Bernstein, and acclaimed pianist Aaron Goldberg. Released on Fresh Sound New Talent label in the autumn of 2026.
