Luis Pardellans was born in Barcelona and began playing the piano at the age of five. His father, the director of a music school, was the one who gave him his first lessons. At the age of eight, he entered the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona, where he studied classical piano, solfege, and harmony, later obtaining a degree in musical direction. At eleven, he gave his first concert during the school’s end-of-year performance.

Although he initially intended to study medicine, his passion for music completely changed his life when he realized that the piano would shape his destiny forever. Dedicated and disciplined, he spent up to eight hours a day playing. By the age of sixteen, he was already performing in dance halls and nightclubs while continuing his studies. At eighteen, he formed his own group, playing at events and parties. His musical curiosity and desire to deepen his knowledge of technique and harmony led him to travel to the United States, where he experienced jazz first hand. He took advantage of a contract as a pianist on a cruise along the Miami Beach coast, which allowed him to connect with the local music scene. Gradually, he became part of the jazz circuit, working as a session musician and accompanying comedians, entertainers, and singers, including Johnny Desmond, whom he accompanied on numerous occasions. He also focused on studying modern harmony, composition, and arrangements for groups and orchestras. During this period, he played in jazz groups, performing standards in hotels and music venues.

His journey took him to the Caribbean and Puerto Rico, where he immersed himself in Latin and Caribbean music, an influence that left a deep mark on his musical style. Upon returning to Barcelona, he began teaching at the Conservatorio de Música, the Taller de Músics, and the Aula de Música, giving piano and harmony lessons. At the same time, he worked as a session musician in recording studios and as an arranger for artists, orchestras, and television. During this period, he accompanied renowned singers and musicians, performing as a pianist and keyboardist in concerts for Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick, Tania María, Sacha Distel, Lorenzo González, Lucho Gatica, Moncho, and Anna Luna, among others. He was also part of the orchestras Sonora Trinidad and Madera Antillana.

In the 1990s, he founded his own trio alongside Ze Eduardo and Marc Miralta. With this formation, he solidified his musical identity, performing in jazz clubs and festivals such as those in Vic, Terrassa, and Barcelona. His repertoire blended jazz standards with original compositions, strongly influenced by swing and Afro-Caribbean music. Over time, the trio also featured musicians such as Mario Rossy, Aldo Caviglia, Jordi Gaspar, and Enrique Heredia.

Throughout his career, Luis Pardellans has developed a distinctive musical language, where jazz, improvisation, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms merge naturally, giving life to a unique and personal artistic vision.
