Phil Woods, Bob Corwin, Sonny Dallas, Nick Stabulas
The Complete Epic LP Warm Woods
7 takes from two 1957 sessions, one with a Septet featuring Eddie Bert, Eddie Costa and Sal Salvador; and the other with a Sextet featuring Burt Collins, Nat Pierce and Barry Galbraith. All included here as Bonus Tracks!
This CD focuses on Phil Woods recordings from 1957; a decisive year in the career of the altoist - perhaps the most articulate exponent of contemporary hot, mainstream, hard bop, or you-name-it jazz - due to the formation of his celebrated quintet with Gene Quill. On the first eight tracks, Phil is showcased fronting his own quartet with pianist Bob Corwin, bassist Sonny Dallas and drummer Nick Stabulas. In addition we have included as bonus tracks two other sessions recorded by the altoist the same year, with small groups performing standards and original compositions.
