Oscar Peterson and Coleman Hawkins -- a great combination that's captured wonderfully in this live recording from the late 60s, done at a time when Hawkins was really stretching out with some great solo work! The core of the performance is by the Peterson trio with Sam Jones on bass and Bobby Durham on drums -- rolling out with a soulfully-grooving power that matches their best live Verve sides of the 60s. Hawkins joins in on 4 of the album's tracks, bringing that raspy later tone to the material and really opening it up as he solos on "Moonglow", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "September Song", and "Stuffy". The rest of the material is straight trio, but still plenty darn nice.
