Geni Barry & Angel Pereira Quintet
The Geni Barry & Angel Pereira Quintet has been around for over 16 years now. Their meticulously made arrangements and a carefully-chosen repertoire give this recording a welcome musical diversity. The band has crossed the great doors of jazz and now plays in a Latin key. Bobby Hutcherson’s disciple vibraphonist Geni Barry is in charge of the musical arrangements; he introduces or changes the chords in each piece in a way that imbues their melodic structure with different harmonies. Drummer Angel Pereira takes care of the rhythmic arrangements, making them fit in every tune and giving them the life they need to move on their own.
