The Complete Poland Concerts 1976 & 1978 (2 CD Set)
Thad Jones (cnt), Al Porcino, Frank Gordon, Earl Gardner (tp), John Mosca, Clifford Adams (tb), Earl McIntyre (b-tb), Jerry Dodgion (as, ss, fl), Larry Schneider (ts, cl, fl), Pepper Adams (bs), Harold Danko (p), Bob Bowman (b), Mel Lewis (d)
This release presents the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis orchestras complete Poland concerts. This is the first time the 1976 performance ever appears on CD, as is the case with the 15-minute version of Fingers from the 1978 concert, which is the bands last preserved collaboration ever.
Both Thad Jones and Mel Lewis were already veteran jazz musicians when they joined forces to create the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis orchestra in 1965, which would last for more than a decade.
