For the first time on 1 CD, the two legendary cuban jam session albums that Walfredo de los Reyes Jr. recorded in Cuba before Castro. 24 tracks.
When we think of Cuban descargas we think first of Bebo Valdés, a pioneer of the genre in 1952, then Cachao and his legendary recordings on different labels, then maybe Julio Gutiérrez and PeruchÍn for the volume of the Cuban jam sessions on the Panart label, yet few will think of Walfredo de los Reyes Jr. (known now as Walfredo de los Reyes Sr.), who at the end of the 1950s, recorded two full lengths LPs of popular Cuban music mixed with jazz. The two records are “Sabor Cubano” recorded with the group he directed at the Casino Parisien of the Havana’s Hotel Nacional with Yoyo Casteleiro, Enrique Palau, Carlos Arado or Pedro Guida, and “Cuban Jazz” in which he brought a Cuban All Star group made up of Paquito Echevarria, Luis Escalante, Cachao and Los Papines among others. Highly recommended.
