Rafael Mendez is one of the greatest trumpeters there has ever been. He reached the peak of his fame during the Fifties, when he was compared in virtuosity with Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler and other world-famous artists of his time. He's is in a-class entirely by himself. He excels in all particulars; his tone is all that can be desired, his technique is unsurpassable, and his style is that of the true artist. His repertory encompassed with equal mastery both popular and classical music. He was, in every sense, a great musician.
