"When I first listened to Jazz (Standards, vol. 1) I was simply entranced.
I didn't understand a thing, didn't analyze. There was no need to either, the sound spoke for itself. No explanation was required.

I was to experience such a naive perception yet again, on arriving in Barcelona three years ago. I didn't know any Catalan. The words either had no meaning to me, or were freely interpreted by my fantasy.

Pep Ventura is one of the most importants composers of 'Sardanas'; there is also a metro station named after him. But to me Pep, short for Josep, sounded like the English word for spirit or verve, and Ventura like adventure. It sounded just like the perfect name for our music."
