This edition presents two complete small group albums by Harry "Sweets" Edison, both appearing here for the first time ever on CD. "Patented by Edison" originally issued on Roulette Records, features a Mainstream Jazz all-star quintet fronted by Edison and tenor saxophonist Jimmy Forrest, who by the time of this recording (February 12, 1960) had already participated on three 1958 albums with Sweets ("The Swinger", "Harry Edison Swings Buck Clayton and Vice Versa" and the bonus album in this CD "Sweetenings"). This one, also an original Roulette issue, appears directly before the album Patented by Edison in Edison's discography as a leader, with respect to chronological order.
