This magnificent recording is the fruit of a unique grouping of some of the world's most promising jazz talent. Here we have six pieces recorded earlier this year, while on tour in Spain, by trumpet player Avishai E. Cohen (who will be shortly releasing his own Fresh Sound New Talent recording as leader), young pianist Yonatan Avishai, flamboyant bass player Omer Avital (also a member of the OAM Trio, with drummer Marc Miralta and pianist Aaron Goldberg, with two Fresh Sound new Talent CDs under their belts) and New York drummer Daniel Freedman (also a Fresh Sound New Talent player, with his own CD as leader already out). You could say this is a kind of Fresh Sound All-Stars record, with new and old faces from the catalogue! Whatever you call it, the CD is a fantastic example of the risky, fresh playing by these four young men and their unique capacity to blend world rhythms, from Israel and beyond, with the classic sound of Jazz. Don't miss "Third World Love Songs" at any cost!
"The music they play with their own groups could never leave you indifferent, as what predominate in their music are originality, and above all, a very characteristic display of expression."
