Lee Morgan

Those Dizzy Days

Lone Hill Jazz

Personnel:
Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra with Benny Golson and Wynton Kelly

Reference: LHJ10107

This world premiere 78-minute edition showcases trumpet genius Lee Morgan
at the onset of his career as a member of Dizzy Gillespie's legendary mid- 50s State Department big band. The precocious trumpeter is featured here on four separate performances, including the complete Chester, Pennsylvania
concert of June 14, 1957. Dizzy was impressed enough with Morgan to allow his young protégé to stretch out on numbers like "Umbrella Man," "That's All," and the bandleader's own signature tune "Night In Tunisia."
Even at this early stage in his career, Morgan gives more than ample proof that he is one of jazz music's most swinging, powerful and imaginative soloists.
Don't miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to check out the first CD ever released of Lee Morgan's big band recordings.
