Notes:

Throughout its 40-year of existence, the orchestra La Locomotora Negra has shared stage with many different musicians. Some of these meetings have been specific and sporadic, but some others have become continual and have even gone further. Because of their human qualities, their generosity, their support and obviously their affinity with our music, these performers have meant much more to us than it would have been in a chance meeting.

Some of them were with us at the very beginning and were a great example of the path we had to follow (Josep Farreras, Josep Tarazona "Pocholo" Jimmy and Mano Rena). With Gene Connors we listened to music, had dinners and recorded albums. With some others we have kept a close relationship, and have worked together on different projects (Josep Vadell, Oriol Romaní, Big Mama, Arnau Boix). Finally, there are some people we have shared specific and successful projects with (Kathy Autrey, Josep Maria Farràs, Ignasi Terraza, Biel Ballester, Joan Chamorro, Benjamín León). Some of them have performed with us in some of our recordings...

Now, by reason of our 40th anniversary, we wanted to bring some of these musicians / friends together in a project which consisted of two events. The first one was a large-scale concert at the Auditori de Barcelona with a remarkable amount of audience. The second one was a series of recording sessions at the Jazz Room, where the nearness of the audience would give the small jazz club a bit of atmosphere which would be great for the recording.

We should point out, that the current Jazz Room is the living heir of the legendary Cova del Drac, where La Locomotora Negra made its debut (as a quintet at that moment) on the 31st of January, 1971. The result of those sessions is this album we are presenting to you now. It is a gift of intense and emotional work that La Locomotora Negra would like to share with you. The outcome is a double album where these great soloists show the best of themselves in a warm atmosphere full of swing that our band always tries to offer.

And if the saying my friend is your friend" can be applied to the world of music, we really believe that this album could mean "the beginning of a long friendship to you.

-----------------------------------------------
