Celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2006, the La Locomotora Negra orchestra put together a new show with a repertoire that featured a selection of popular songs from the most famous movie soundtracks. All in all, the central idea behind the project was to give a personal vision of a few of the melodies - made famous by jazz that have become everyday listening for many generations over the last seventy years.

"La Locomotora Negra 35 Anys/35 mm, was the title of a show that featured, among others, North American singer Kathy Autrey, tap dancers Guillem Alonso and Roser Font, and the Barcelona Jazz Cats - a group of Lindy Hop dancers. This CD includes most of the tunes featured in the show. Cinema and jazz music were born at the same time and, while growing in parallel, they have met along the way on many an occasion, too. Cinema has borrowed from jazz for its scripts, characters, moods, and memorable soundtracks. In turn, the repertoire of jazz has been fed by a long list of compositions that originated in movie soundtracks, some of which have become standard platforms for the improvisations of many jazz soloists. So, here are some of the meeting points we wanted to revisit when we prepared this CD."

Review:

Citons parmi dautres, Ricard Gili à la trompette et au chant (All Gods children got rhythm, Hello Dolly, I wanna be like you).

All Gods, Miss Cellies blues, Over the rainbow, As time goes by).
