REFERENCE: FS ONE 007

There’s no place (on the Fork Series map) like Chicago. We love the good people who live there, the larger-than-life architecture and the excellent food. Above all, though, we love the music in Chicago. This is a selection that we feel represents the wealth and diversity of the bands currently making up the liveliest independent scene in America’s MidWest.

1. The Ms - Dirty Old Dog
2. Che Arthur - Farewell
3. Palaxy Tracks - Speech With Animals*
4. The Race - Little Babe
5. The Detholz! - Spectacula
6. Abpk - Slow Gotten Gone
7. Perfect Panther - Gun Court*
8. Love Of Everything – Sokay*

**Exclusive Track

First on the compilation is the band The Ms, who are on the verge of ripping Chicago apart and then comes the city's beloved noise rock outfit AtomBombPocketKnife with a track from their guitarist, Che Arthur, showing us his solo skills, the dulcet tones of Palaxy Tracks, a romantic aural tune by The Race, a rare radio session from The Detholz!' and Perfect Panther’s howling "Gun Court".

No Independent Chicago compilation would be complete without Love of Everything (members of Joan of Arc/Make Believe) and the sublime On Filmore (side project of Wilco’s Glenn Kotche) or a raunchy political romp from Fork Series’ own Danger Adventure or this instrumental piece from the hard-rockers Sterling. A euphoric organ-led Timeout Drawer, electro-eccentricity from TRS-80 and hip hop from Brother El come next. The stunning and theatrical Icy Demons (members of Him / Need New Body) and the charming conglomerate of styles and smiles that is Bric-A-Brac. Rounding off the set is little dance ditty by Euphone, the discordant Pit Er Pat and the alluringly eccentric Baby Teeth, finishing it off with the straight up rock vibe of Bang! Bang!
