Teddy Wilson was the swing pianist ‘par excellence’. Influenced by Hines and Tatum, amongst others, Wilson managed to devise his own style that inspired future generations of pianists, with his virtuosity, coupled with precise elegance and refinement. His improvisations were always melodic lines full of inventiveness. This CD shows Teddy Wilson leading excellent trio recording sessions for Columbia in 1950 and four dates for Clef scheduled between December 1952 and September 1953. First-class music.
