This outstanding release is the second volume of the Hank Jones Quartet featuring the guitarists Barry Galbraith and Kenny Burrell. In addition to its previous companion CD, these two volumes taken together form the complete recordings of Jones’ Quartet with Galbraith and Burrell released under the pianist’s name.

This volume includes the outstanding album Talented Touch recorded in the late spring or early summer of 1958. Jones recorded twelve tracks accompanied by Galbraith, Hinton and Johnson. The variety found here showcases the pianist’s versatility, extraordinary touch on the keys, and impeccable taste.

Several months after the standards date, Jones’ Quartet – this time featuring Burrell, Hinton and younger brother Elvin Jones – recorded one of the finest small band interpretation of George Gershwin’s classic Porgy & Bess ever released. The session also boasts exceptional arrangements by Al Cohn.
