Bill Evans (p), Marc Johnson (b), Joe LaBarbera (d)
Bar code: 8436028692422
This Gambit double CD, reissues two famous, long-unavailable live sets by the Bill Evans Trio recorded at Ronnie Scotts Club in July and August 1980. Evans died on September 15th of that year, so these are not only his last UK concerts but among a small number of recorded concerts he would ever give. The French jazz critic and enthusiast Francis Paudras, who played such a fundamental role in the life of pianist Bud Powell, was present during Evans performances at the club and perfectly sums up these recordings.

"Those who were at Ronnie's back in 1980 should be at the front of the queue for this album. The fact that it plays for almost one hundred minutes is merely further bonus."
Barry McRae -Jazz Journal
"Sheer enthusiasm and sparkle, and there's plenty of that. This trio was a beautifully integrated unit and Evans clearly relished playing with them. This 2-CD helping pretty much wraps the Ronnie's material up."
Keith Shadwick -Jazzwise
